Weaker than Water

"In the world, there is nothing more submissive and weak than water. Yet for attacking that which is hard and strong, nothing can surpass it." –Lao Tzu

Small Stone #2 Milkweed

Grey milkweed on my desk,
husk like a tough survivor,
pillar of seeds dried inside,
already ready for spring.

You will see a series of these poems, inspired by Satyavani Fiona Robyn’s Mindful Writing Challenge 2013, during which we compose what she calls “one small stone” per month.  A small stone describes something near the writer, something to help get you to notice and focus (big challenges for me).  I will try to do this more than once a month, yielding many, many concrete poems.  Thank you, Satyavani, for your inspiration and dedication to people like me!
